Rabbi Saperstein: "We call on the Administration to act swiftly to establish from which sources these leaks came, in order to both hold those responsible accountable and to ensure that this does not happen again."
WASHINGTON, D.C., March 30, 2012 - In response to reports that U.S. officials leaked sensitive intelligence concerning Israels efforts to stem Irans nuclear weapons capability, Rabbi David Saperstein, Director of the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, issued the following statement:
"Reports indicating that U.S. officials have made public sensitive information about Israels efforts to address Irans nuclear weapons capability are deeply alarming. We fervently hope that military action will not be needed and continue to push all parties to do everything possible to avoid it. But to so severely damage and constrain Israels military options as this leak has done ill-serves the interests of all that seek to constrain Irans nuclear military ambitions. Although all the facts are not yet known, if such reports are true, these leaks violate the spirit of mutual concern about the Iranian nuclear threat and commitment to co-operation expressed by President Obama and Prime Minister Netanyahu during their recent meeting. We call on the Administration to act swiftly to establish from which sources these leaks came, in order to both hold those responsible accountable and to ensure that this does not happen again."
